Who are the Edmonton International Folk Dancers?

We are a recreational folk dance group that has been meeting and dancing in Edmonton for over 60 years! Our membership includes beginner to advanced dancers and covers a diverse age range.

Our teaching of dances runs on a 3 week schedule.  We learn the SAME dances for 3 weeks in a row for optimum learning.  We then add them to our requests for retention.

We meet weekly to learn dances from a wide variety of cultures and countries including Bulgaria, France, Armenia, Greece, Romania, Israel, Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Turkey, England, Portugal and many, many more. Dances are taught by local teachers who have learned and taught throughout North America, in Europe and Japan.

Special events throughout the year include parties at Christmas and our season end (April/May), guest instructors, workshops and summer gatherings.
