Frequently Asked Questions
What is recreational international folk dancing?
It is, as the name suggests, an opportunity to learn and dance traditional dances from all over the world.
It is a social event -- an opportunity to meet new friends, to socialize and to dance to great music!
Do I need experience?
No. The group is comprised of beginners and experienced dancers.
Do I need any special equipment?
No - just you and your feet - non-street shoes to keep the floors clean and a desire to have fun! Soft-soled shoes make it easier to dance. Wear comfortable clothing.
Do I need a partner?
No - most of the dances do not require partners; they are done in lines and circles. We do some couples dances that require a partner, but there are many of us who come alone and we just mix 'n mingle.
Do I have to perform for an audience?
No - we dance for our own enjoyment.
Can I bring my children?
Children are welcome. We ask that parents be responsible for ensuring that their children are not disruptive. For everyone's safety, children who are not participating in the dancing must stay out of the way of the dancers.
